Talktalk undercuts rival Three with £3.50 SIM-only tariff

UK MOBILE VIRTUAL NETWORK OPERATOR (MVNO) Talktalk Mobile clearly is looking to make a name for itself in the UK mobile industry, having announced a dirt cheap £3.50 SIM-only tariff on Friday.

Talktalk introduced its new 12 month SIM-only plans today, and it hasn't done things by half. The cheapest option is priced at £3.50 a month, and fills buyers smartphones with 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB of monthly data.
There are also £7.50 and £15 tariffs available, which come with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data, and unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data, respectively, with the network offering unlimited allowances for the first time.

This sees Talktalk undercutting rival network Three, which has rapidly made its name as one of the UK's best value for money mobile operators. Three's 12 month SIM-only plans start at £6.50, almost double the price of Talktalk's cheapest offering. However, this plan comes with 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and 500MB of data.

Talktalk also has one month only SIM-only plans on its website, which are priced at £5.00, £10.00 and £17.50, respectively.

Dan Meader, mobile director at Talktalk said, "A big appeal of Talktalk Mobile is our firm value for money position. We offer some of the most premium handsets available for the most competitive price.

"Our new tariffs are centered around having more time to chat, text and surf the net without paying a penny extra. With more handsets than people out there, our SIM-only price plans are perfect for people who want to keep their current handset or hand it down to their children, without having to take a pricey contract."
