ASUS unveils FonePad at MWC

ASUS has taken the wraps off the FonePad, a £179 seven-inch tablet with phone-functionality built in.

It comes with an Intel Atom Z2420 1.2GHz process, along with 1GB of RAM, and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. It also comes with a 4,270mAH battery. According to ASUS, the battery delivers up to nine hours of use.

The FonePad comes with just 16GB of internal storage, but this is boosted by the inclusion of a MicroSD slot that supports up to 32GB cards. In addition, it comes with a 3-megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front. Those pictures are displayed on a seven-inch, 1280x800 IPS display.

Looks wise, it is features a plain black taper around the screen, with the option of a silver or gold-coloured brushed metal back. In terms of Android, it is preloaded with 4.1 Jelly Bean.
